Latest information

  • Corporate energy storage grant (BESS): The submission window for this phase opened on February 10, 2026. Although originally planned for January, the modified call specifies that grant application intake became active from mid-February.
  • Closed/Suspended phases: Of the program's previous 2025 phases, the third phase was suspended at the end of September 2025 due to the exhaustion of the 45 billion HUF framework.
  • Current status: As the February 2026 phase (with a 50 billion framework) recently launched, this "current" window may also close or be suspended at any time due to oversubscription.
     

Purpose of the application

The program aims to provide non-refundable grants to businesses for the installation of energy storage facilities and the expansion of related renewable energy generation capacities.

The purpose of the developments is to relieve the electricity grid, increase energy independence, and reduce the use of fossil fuels.

  • Total budget: 50 billion HUF (of which 25 billion HUF for SMEs)
  • Available grant amount:
    • Minimum: 10 million HUF
    • Maximum: 1 billion HUF
  • Support intensity as a percentage of eligible costs:
    • Micro and small enterprises: max. 50%
    • Medium enterprises: max. 40%
    • Large enterprises: max. 30%
  • Form: non-refundable grant, supplemented by own resources.

Independently eligible for support:

  • Procurement of electricity or heat energy storage facilities.


Eligible only in combination with energy storage installation:

  • Construction of a renewable energy production system for own consumption (e.g. solar panels, wind energy, heat pumps).
    • Support for renewable energy production may cover up to 30% of eligible costs.


Related activities may include:

  • Required measurement and control systems and software
  • Safety equipment
  • Construction works necessary for installation
  • Project management, engineering and technical supervision tasks

  • At least 75% of the stored energy must come directly from renewable sources each year during the 5-year maintenance period.
  • The energy storage capacity must reach at least 20% of the total capacity of the related renewable energy production.
  • A physically interconnected system is required; island operation is also permitted.
  • Only sites where the property has an occupancy permit at the time of the application submission are eligible for support.

  • A legal entity enterprise or non-profit economic organization with a registered office or site in Hungary.
  • At least 1 fully closed business year.
  • Consortium applications cannot be submitted.
  • No overdue public debt exceeding 60 days.
  • Not under liquidation, bankruptcy, or voluntary dissolution.

  • Deadline for the physical and financial completion of the project: 31 December 2027.
  • Support may only be requested for projects started after the publication of the call.
